Mr. Charles J. Sims

October 12, 1929 - July 1, 2020

Mr. Charles J. Sims, 90, of Taneyville, MO died Wednesday, July 1, 2020 in Springfield, MO. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, July 6, 2020 in the KSE Funeral Home. Military graveside service will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 7th in the Helphrey cemetery, Taneyville, with Pastor Joshua Hume officiating.

Charles Junior Sims was born Saturday, October 12, 1929 in Taneyville, MO to Charley Finnis and Gertrude (Sullenger) Sims. He graduated from Forsyth High School in 1947. In 1951 he was drafted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sgt. In 1953. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars, and the United Nations Service Medal. After returning home he married Betty Arnold in 1954. He worked on building the Table Rock Dam, farming, and was a U.S.D.A. Meat Inspector for forty- eight years. He retired well into his eighties in 2015. He married Janice Cutbirth in 1985.

He enjoyed sucker grabbing, woodworking and reading. He was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners for fifty years. Charles was very hardworking, conservative and never met a stranger.

He is survived by longtime companion Janice Cutbirth; two daughters, Cindy Dalton and husband, Glenn and Julie Jader; three brothers, Gary, Bill and Milfred Sims; seven grandchildren, Sundee Hume and husband, Joshua, Makyna Hart and husband, Matthew, Logan Dalton, Sam, Emily and Kate Jader, David Springer; four great-grandchildren, Ralen and Abel Hume, Noble and Worthy Hart.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roger Sims and Rex David; two grandsons, Peyton Glenn Dalton and Gabriel Charles Dalton; one granddaughter, Monica Jader.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home LLC, Forsyth, MO. For the safety of our patrons and employees, Mask Will be required in the Funeral Home at all times. Thank you for your cooperation.
