Clarence "Curly" Fletcher, 87, of Cedar Creek died Friday, May 5, 2017 at his residence.
A memorial service date, time and place will be announced at a later date.
Clarence Steward Fletcher was born Sunday, August 11, 1929 in Caplinger Mills, MO to
John Thomas and Maudie Estella (Keller) Fletcher. He attended the West Union Country
School in El Dorado, Springs, MO. At a young age be began working for a power
company in St. Clair County as a line cleaner. He worked his way up to foreman and
worked for the KAMO Power Company for twenty-five years. He met Nita Kerr in Joplin.
They were married May 24, 1990 in Miami, OK. He had lived in El Dorado, Springs, and
Neosho, MO. In 1990 he and Nita moved to Cedar Creek the year he retired from the
power company so that he could hunt and fish.
Other than hunting and fishing, Curly loved socializing, raunchy stories, teasing and
joking. He also enjoyed wood crafting, gardening and storytelling. He was a member of
the Cedar Creek Volunteer Fire Department and the Open Door Community Church. He
was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Nita of Cedar Creek; two sons, Stanley Fletcher of Coco
Beach, FL, Jeffrey Springer of Springfield, MO; four daughters, Joyce Garret and
husband, Dave of Strang, OK, Betty Fletcher of Pittsburg, KS, Kittie O'Berg of Joplin,
Jan Springer of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Georgia Mart of El Dorado Springs; nine
grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Louis, Alfred, Clyde, Siegel, Ewell
Fletcher and four sisters, Velma West, Lucille Masters, Elizabeth Luther and Laura
