Dave Catlett passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in Branson, Missouri at age
He was, born on February 25, 1935 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Lee and Lucille Catlett.
Dave attended Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas from which he graduated
in 1954. He enlisted in the US Army in 1954 and was awarded the Army Occupation
Medal (Germany) and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1956.
He began a long career with International Paper Company (IP) as an accountant in
1959. During his 33 year career, he held various managerial and corporate leadership
roles that took him and his family to assignments in IP offices and manufacturing
facilities across the United States and, from 1974 to 1976, Milano, Italy. After
"retirement," he continued working as an accountant, volunteering his skills to several
local churches, for the rest of his life.
Dave's smile went from-ear-to-ear and he brought God's loving presence with him to all
he encountered. Throughout his life, he generously gave his time to his family, his
church community, and God. He enjoyed golfing (especially with his brother, sons, and
cousins), fishing and building all-things-conceivable in his wood-shop. He was a
Scoutmaster, Little League Baseball manager and coach, and proponent of countless
activities that enriched his family academically, socially, and spiritually. Dave founded
and, together with his wife Jan, promoted and organized Catlett Family Reunions from
1988 to 2017. Since 2012, Dave was a faithful member of the Bridge of Faith
Community Church in Rockaway Beach, Missouri. For the last three years, he
participated in the mentoring program in the local elementary schools.
Dave was preceded in death by his son Richard and son-in-law Dan Fante. He is
survived by his wife of 60 years, Jan (nee Marth) of Kirbyville, Missouri, son David Jr.
(Charlotte) of Allen, Texas, son Charles (Joanie) of Naperville, Illinois, and daughter
Ayrin of Sedona, Arizona. Dave and Jan have seven grandchildren: Amy Nuxoll (James),
Richard Catlett, Emilie Catlett, Jonathan Catlett, Mary Lucille Catlett, Victoria Catlett,
and Giovanni Fante. They also have two great grand-children: Jenson and Ellie. Dave is
also survived by his brother Richard Catlett of Lenexa, Kansas and his sister Peg Spong
of Lakeland, Florida.
Interment will be at a later date in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Godspeed Dave, you will be
