David Lee Howell, 83, of Kissee Mills died Sunday, March 4, 2018 in the Forsyth Nursing and Rehab Center. A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.

David Lee Howell was born Wednesday, May 23, 1934 in Johnson, AR to Earl Albert and Bertha (Drake) Howell. At a young age, the family moved to Kansas City, MO. David graduated from Central High School in Raytown in the class of 1954. He then attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO on a football scholarship. He worked as a truck driver moving pianos and furniture for the Teamsters Local #41. He also worked as a grounds keeper for the city of Raymore, MO. He met Melissa Steinman in 1974 in Kansas City, MO. They were married in July 14, 1976 in Raytown. Following his retirement in 1995, he and Melissa moved to Kissee Mills.

David was an honest, 'manly man' that treated others with respect and kindness. He loved animals and was very family oriented. He enjoyed fishing, reading and tinkering. He was a member of the General Baptist Church of Walnut Shade.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa of Kissee Mills; two sons, William Howell of Kansas City, MO, Michael Howell and fiancé, Vickie of Kansas City, KS; a daughter, Patricia McFatrich of Lee's Summit, MO; a brother, Jerry Michael Howell and wife, Ann of Pleasant Hope, MO; a sister, Colleen Zuck and husband, Willard of Independence, MO; a sister-in-law, Pauline Howell of Raytown, MO; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard Howell; one sister, Betty Lou Howell and two grandsons, Gary Littrell and Jessy Letellier.

Memorials in memory of David Lee Howell may be made to the Walnut Shade General Baptist Church, c/o Sue Bilyeu: 8045 State Hwy 176, Walnut Shade, MO 65771.
