Richard "Dick" Seidel, 78, of Forsyth died Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in
Mercy Hospital Springfield. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M.
Monday, March 19th in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home with
Pastor Dennis D. Winzenried officiating.
Richard George Seidel was born Thursday, October 5, 1939 in Berwyn, IL to
Clarence George and Bernice Seidel. He attended school in Elgin, IL and
graduated with class of 1957. He then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. After
the service he moved back to IL and worked at various jobs including
training German Short Haired Pointers. He moved to Topeka, KS and became
a police officer in 1967 for the city of Topeka. In 1971 he met Linda Ohley in
Topeka. They were married September 9, 1973 in Topeka. They stayed in
Topeka for ten years and Dick worked in marine repair and sales. In 1982
they moved to Forsyth for business opportunities. He owned and operated
Dick's Marine Repair Shop in Taneyville. He retired in 2012.
Dick's greatest passion was fishing, hunting, watching fishing shows and
following the Chicago Bears Football Team. He was a gruff Teddy Bear that
told it like it is. He was a straight forward, loving and caring guy. He was a
member of the Fraternal Order of Police in Topeka.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of Forsyth; three sons, David Seidel and
wife, Leslie of Topeka, Donald Odom and wife, Haekyong of Colorado Springs,
CO, Frank Odom of Forsyth; a daughter, Jeannette Auerbach of Olathe, KS;
one brother, Kenneth Seidel and wife, Carol of Elgin, IL; eight grandchildren
and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.

Heart Association, 2446 E. Madrid Ave. Springfield, MO 65804.
