Mr. Earl J. Elledge, 79, of Rockaway Beach died Tuesday, February 21, 2018 at his residence. Military Honors will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 28, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.

Earl Joseph Elledge was born Sunday, July 24, 1938 in Terre Haute, IN to Carlyle and Bertha (DePasse) Elledge. In 1956 at the age of seventeen, Earl enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as a Flight Engineer on the C-130 Hercules aircraft. After twenty years of service he retired in 1976 with the rank of Tech Sgt. E-6. During his service, he was awarded the Air Medal, Vietnam Service Ribbon, Air Force Combat Medal, AF Longevity Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force and Army Good Conduct Medals and Small Arms Ribbon. Earl then went to work for the U.S. Naval Air Base in Pensacola, FL as an electrician. He worked there for seventeen years and retired in 1993. In 1992 he met Janice Lee Cote in Valparaiso, FL They moved from Fort Walton Beach, FL to Rockaway Beach, MO in 1993. He and Janice were married October 30, 1994. In Rockaway Beach.

Earl was a hard worker who was generous, kind and loving. He had a good sense of humor and cared for others. He as a member of the Elks Lodge, VFW, DAV, VVA #913, AMVETS Post 78, and American Legion. He enjoyed golf, woodworking and fishing. He was of the Catholic Faith.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Elledge of Rockaway Beach; two sons, John Elledge and wife, Susan of Valparaiso, FL, Edward Pittman of Rockaway Beach; two daughters, Lori Tarasovich and husband, Robert of Warrington, VA, Lisa Dalton and husband, Thomas of Fort Walton Beach, FL; a sister, Mary J. Huffman and husband, Robert of Terre Haute, IN; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jim Elledge; two daughters, Glenda Hale and Noralee Reynolds and one grandson, Joe Elledge.
