Evon Kimmons, 74, of Joplin, formerly of Taneyville, died Tuesday, June 12,
2018 at her residence. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday,
June 15 in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home. Private interment will
be in the Dickens Cemetery, Taneyville.
Evon Sue Kimmons was born Friday, December 24, 1943 in Bradleyville to
Granville and Gladys (Maggard) Combs. She attended school in Bradleyville
and graduated from the Bradleyville High School. She was married to Junior
Earl Reese and became a homemaker. After the death of Junior Reese, she
met David Kimmons in Rockaway Beach. They were married July 26, 1986 in
Miami, OK. She and Dave made their home in Taneyville for thirty-two years.
She worked at the Hagel Garment Factory in Forsyth and later cooked for
the Forsyth School for ten years. She retired in 2003. She and David moved
to Joplin a year ago.
Evon never met a stranger. She was funny with a great sense of humor and
loved to visit She also dearly loved her family and country music. She played
guitar and sang with her siblings and family every chance she got. She loved
gardening, fishing, hunting arrowheads, canning, quilting and crafts. She was
a member of the Jehovah's Witness Church.
She is survived by her husband, Dave of Joplin; three sons, Harold Reese
and wife, Kim of Racine, MO, Nathan Kimmons and wife, Kim of Kansas City,
MO, David Paul Kimmons and wife, Jennifer of Fordland, MO; four daughters,
Rhonda Ames and husband, Sam of Baxter Springs, KS, Marybeth Dixon and
husband, Stuart of Kirbyville, MO, Amy Stafford of Branson, Diane Kimmons
of Springfield; four brothers, Garland Combs and wife, Barbara of Strafford,
MO, Junior Combs and wife, Sue of Taneyville, David Combs and wife, Kathy
of Bismarck, AR, Benny Combs and wife, Linda of Dallas, TX; two sisters,
Mildred Hess of Burley, ID, Pearline Carney of Moxee, WA; three
grandchildren, Cassie Dunn and husband, Jason, Josh Ames and wife, Abbey,
Jacob Rees; fourteen step grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and
several step great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Junior Reese,
Brother Roger Combs, half-brothers, Roy Combs, Ernest Combs; a sister,
Teresa Butler; half-sisters, Dorothy Maxine, Viola Rawson and a step-son,
