James Fry, 91, of Forsyth died Thursday, January 18, 2018 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 2 in the Forsyth United Methodist Church with Pastor Larry Lawman officiating.

James Joseph Fry was born Monday October 10, 1926 in Newton, KS to Orville Clinton and Mary Elizabeth (Lewelling) Fry. He attended school in Sedgwick, KS and graduated with the class of 1944. After graduation. James enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Seaman First Class. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He soon in enrolled Wichita State University where he met Edith Stewart. They were married September 30, 1950 in Wichita. James was employed at Boeing as a tool designer for aircraft engines. In 1970 he and Edith moved to Ohio where he worked for General Electric as an aircraft tool designer. He retired in 1989. The family moved to Taney County in 1990.

James was a member of the American Society of Tool Engineers, American Legion and the Boy Scouts. He was very active in the Methodist Church and participated in the Walk to Emmaus. He was also a volunteer and Lay Leader in the church. He enjoyed reading, fishing, woodworking and hunting in his younger days. James liked to be in charge with his countless leadership abilities. He was strong-willed and very unselfish. He also loved to tease but most of all he loved his family and strived to protect his family’s welfare.

He is survived by his wife, Edith of Forsyth; four sons: James Fry and wife, Kathy of Honolulu, HI, Michael Fry and wife, Amber of Tulia, TX, Richard Fry and wife, Joanne of Trenton, OH, William Fry and wife, Terri of Dayton, OH; three daughters, Katharine Fry of Forsyth, Debra Gasper of Topeka, KS, Roselyn Smith and husband, Kevin of Ocala, FL; twenty grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stewart Fry; granddaughter, Charlie Fry and a sister, Leona Kern.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, MO.
