Mrs. Joyce A. Gavel, 71 of Forsyth, MO died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in Forsyth, MO. Services will be private.

Joyce Ann Gavel was born, Sunday, June 9, 1946 In Roanoke, VA to Oscar and Lily Martin. Joyce had a great love for traveling and has lived all over the U.S and Virgin Islands. Throughout her life, she had various occupations. She worked as a realtor, waitress, homemaker and even trained as an over the road truck driver. She moved to Forsyth, MO in 2009.

Joyce was very feisty, independent, ornery and was opinionated but never hesitated to express her love to family and friends. She was generous and donated to many charities. She loved traveling and being near the ocean. She collected gems and crystals and enjoyed reading, watching soap operas and NCIS. Most of all she was a very loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Wingo of Forsyth, Sonya Denny of Virginia Beach, VA; two brothers, Doug Mills of Powhatan, VA, Junior Mills of Crewe, VA; two sisters, Kay George of Kansas City, MO, Earlene Armes of Burkeville, VA; four grandchildren, Faith Wingo, Amanda Hamilton, Seth and Samantha Denny and two great-grandchildren, Stella and Elliot Hamilton.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Anthony and Thomas Poole and one sister, Linda Hamilton.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, MO.
