Mrs. Ruth P. Blair, 91, of Bradleyville, MO, died Friday, February 22, 2019 in Buffalo, MO. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 26 in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home. The funeral will be a 2:00 P.M in the funeral home with Mr. Tod Sundlie officiating. Interment will be in the Blair Ridge Cemetery, Bradleyville.
Ruth Pauline Blair was born Monday, December 26, 1927 in Bradleyville to Louie Earl and Delia Esther (Gott) Martin. She attended a one room school near her home and graduated from the Bradleyville High School with the class of 1944.After high school, she began her teaching career in Victory School and Oak Ridge, both one room schools. Ruth went on to earn her Master's Degree in Education from Missouri State University. While teaching in Bradleyville, she met Hobart Blair at a basketball game. They were married May 23, 1953 in Springfield. She and Hobart lived in Taneyville, Longview, WA, Kansas City and moved to Bradleyville in 1955. Hobart died in 2006. Ruth moved to Independence in 2001 and back home to Bradleyville in 2007.
Ruth was a warm hearted, fun-loving and friendly lady with a great sense of humor. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, crossword puzzles, board games, cards and spending time with her children and grandchildren. In her earlier years she was the leader of the Bradleyville 4-H Club. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Bradleyville.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy Sundlie and husband, Randy of Louisburg, MO, Peggy Rush and husband, Mitch of Independence, MO; sister, Doris Manes of Jacksonville, AR; eight grandchildren: Tod, Ryan, Travis and Justin Sundlie, Misty Hirsch, Amanda Waters, Miles Rush and Melissa Miranda and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hobart Blair; one daughter, Jeanette Blair and four brothers, Loyd, Bill, Fred and Ron Martin and one sister, Mary Martin.
