Vernon Sullenger, 81, of Belton, MO died Sunday, January 27, 2019 at his home. A memorial service will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 7, 2019 in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth. Burial will be held at a later date in the Dickens Cemetery, Taneyville, MO.
Clell Vernon Sullenger was born Saturday, February 20, 1937 in Taneyville, MO to Noel and Alma (Johnson) Sullenger. He started his education at Lone Pine School in Taney County and from there he attended Taneyville School and graduated high school from School of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, MO. After graduating high school, he stayed at School of the Ozarks and attended a year of college. He married Ginger Sloan in 1957 and then moved to Kansas City, MO. They had two daughters, Bethelena Sue and Venessa Jane. Vernon worked in the Kansas City area in the grocery business for forty-seven years as a Grocery Manager and Buyer.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. He also loved to sketch, paint and was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs football.
Vernon is survived by two daughters, Sue Porter of Buffalo, MO and Venessa Mills of Ava, MO; one brother, Richard Sullenger and wife, Rhonda of Taneyville; four granddaughters; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Stanley and Ranzy Sullenger; two sons- in law, Bryon Porter and John Mills and his long -time companion, Bonnie Bellante.
