Wanda L. Sanders, 82, of Kissee Mills died Saturday, June 2, 2018 in Cox
The visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 6 in the
Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10:30 AM,
Thursday in the Forsyth First Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Henson
officiating. Burial will be in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.
Wanda Lavon Sanders was born Wednesday, August 21, 1935 in Cedar
Creek, MO to Earl and Maiomi (Holt) Hankins. She attended high school at
College of the Ozarks and graduated with the class of 1955. She met Birch
Sanders in 1951 and they were married on September 3, 1955 in Harrison,
AR. They made their home in Kingsville, MO. In 1970 they moved to Kissee
Mills and opened the Sanders General Store. They later bought a farm on
Beaver Creek where they raised beef cattle, hogs and later began a dairy
farm. They also owned a feed store, restaurant and antique shop. She
retired in 1992. Birch died in 2014.
Wanda may have been tiny in statue but was mighty in personality. She
never met a stranger. She was a hard worker and a loving Christian woman
with a great sense of humor. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. The grandchildren affectionally called her "Wiggy.
Wanda was a member of the Forsyth First Baptist Church and a Quilting Club
at First Baptist along with the Calico Cut-Up Quilting Club.
She is survived by two sons, Dale Sanders of Branson, Doug Sanders of
Kissee Mills; two daughters, Debbie Wilson and husband, Dave of Rogersville,
MO, Cindy Carsten and husband, Gary of Hurley, MO; five brothers, Alfred
Hankins and wife, Shirley of Warsaw, MO, Wayne Hankins and wife, Laura of
Pleasant Hill, MO, James "Short" Hankins and wife, Emily of Warsaw, Lloyd
Hankins and wife, Garlena of Warsaw, Darrell Hankins also of Warsaw; four
sisters, Wilma Sue Van Dyke and husband, Ed of Warsaw, Mary Blevins and
husband, John of Warsaw, Donna Shouse of Caney, KS, Kay Rogers of
Independence, KS; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Birch Sanders; grandson,
Skyler Sanders; three brothers, Virgil, Charles and Willie Hankins and a sister,
